Halloween 2019

Halloween is a holiday on the last day of October that occurs yearly. Although everyone has their own traditions, it is common to find people and houses dressed up in costumes and or Halloween themed decorations including, pumpkins, candy, scary characters like witches, skeletons, or zombies. On the day of Halloween 2019, I walked around the University of Chicago Campus to places such as The Regenstein Library, The Cathy Dining Hall and the Renee-Granville Grossman Dorm. In the evening I went to Harper Street in Hyde Park. Harper Street has a reputation of going all out for Halloween. People from all over the Hyde Park neighborhood will come not only to go Trick-Or-Treating but also to see the crazy decorations the houses on that street put up.

Decorations displayed on houses at Harper Street, Hyde Park.

A student dressed as a scarecrow and a student dressed as a bumble-bee socializes with friends at the Cathey Dining Commons.

Disguised as an elf, a student works hard at the Regenstein Library. Similarly, sitting in Ex Libris Cafe at the Regenstein Library, a student dressed as a bunny, studies hard.

Baby Margot, the daughter of the Resident Heads of Crown House in the Renee-Granville Grossman Residential Hall, is dressed up as a pumpkin.

Young kids dressed up in costumes trick-or-treat.

Families dressed up standing outside their houses on Harper Street hand out candy to eager children!

Candy and fun decoration found.

Even I-House decorated for the special occasion.

As the night continued, more and more houses ran out of candy and set up “Out of Candy” signs.
